Warning!!! Complain-free zone

Have you ever thought what it would be like, to not complain?

I recently posted the following on Facebook  24 hrs non complaining, to go without complaining for 24 hours and watch how it starts to change your life. This triggered an idea to challenge you to do some hard but important work. With this year coming to an end, I wish for you to master this skill and start the new year fresh! This is going to impact not only the way you do this challenge today  but also the way you live the rest of your life.

Some of you are so used to hearing your own put-downs and defeatist comments that you don’t even notice them anymore. This is where the hard work is going to come in.

I want you to listen to yourself and list all the negative things you say about yourself in your head. It may be, “I’m broke.” Or, “I’m fat, stupid, lazy, ugly, clumsy…” The possibilities are endless. And because you spend all of your time with yourself your mind is repeating these crazy comments again and again! This must end.

Write down five negative things you say to yourself.bubbles

Is that something you would say to anyone else? Is it something you would say to a child you wanted to nurture? Is that something you would say to an employee? A friend? Of course not. I hope not!

Cross them out!

Have no tolerance for the negative and mean things you used to direct at yourself. Zero tolerance. Replace these thoughts now. They are not only useless; they are harmful!

finThis ends now.

I want you to re-write the five statements as positive first-person present tense affirmations and I want you to put them everywhere you go. Make them your screen saver. Cover your desk, your mirror, and your refrigerator with post-it notes. Say them over and over. It takes a thousand positives to outweigh a negative comment. So repeat, repeat, repeat until your subconscious accepts this new (AND ACCURATE!!!) truth. Make them your incantation.

Now, be alert to other negative thoughts as they come into your mind and quickly write them down and adapt them to positive first person present tense affirmations.

You will allow yourself to achieve all of your goals starting now!

About Inspiring Result

I am a thought leader who want to live in a world where people feel excited about doing what they choose to do, fulfilled and in a place where there is room to reach the level of success desired; enjoy laughter, loved ones and fulfilling conversations. I am a Success Coach, with close to two decades of experience with a background in traditional counseling, Sport Psychology and a degree in Strategic Interventions from Robbins-Madenas Training Center. I've been applauded for my straight forward, warm approach working with a range of clients from many high profile regulars, organizations to the 'girl next door'. When I'm not immersed in my coaching world I can be found on adventure with my family, in the barn with our horses or burying my toes in the sand. Integrating what I believe in every single area of my life, I do not try to balance the mythical scales so that work and family demands and rewards are exactly even. Rather, I trying to understand this: Accurately assessing the nature of [one's] own personalities, sense of self-identity, and the degree of control over work and family lives is crucial to finding satisfaction. Balance is not the goal, a healthy prioritized integration is. My work has been a warm welcome into many busy lives and is offered as a structured one on one program, workshops and educational sessions on a consulting basis, talking about how to successfully identify and reach goals by strategically gaining clarity. Currently I'm passionately working on integrating generations in today's workforce; creating a business culture where talent is retained and can thrive, not only Millennial talent but all talent throughout the organization! As your strategist, I am driven by your results and your success!

That is such a great actionable blog post!

I was just reading a book on Transactional Analysis and it was talking about how as children before we can consciously reason we pick up all these recording from our parents and these play almost unconsciously in our minds for the rest of our lives without ever testing if they are true….. this is a great way to interrupt these thoughts and test them with beneficial far reaching effects from letting go of the thoughts that on review are well past their used by date :)
